Labour Machine (2020) proposes a designed artificial appliance that could outline the alphabet’s shape by tracking users’ working efficiency.
It’s a speculative design concept in- spired by COVID-19 that creatives are given a chance to self-driven work in lights of self-quarantine.
The machine algorithm will track the user’s working efficiency and outline the alphabets. When finished, a customised typeface will generate as a visual report that visualises the user’s working form.   The project’s objective is to discuss the future status of graphic designers while working with machines mostly. Does the position of graphic designers evolve into a gate-keeper of data? A director rather than the executor? It is more like a concept rather than a physical outcome.
So I use illustration to explain the idea and write creative coding on p5js to simulate the execu- tion from the generative appliance.
